Opening the Space

As a member opening the space for an event, you have the collective responsibility to keep the space clean, inviting, and usable for your fellow members and guests.

Opening Checklist

Preparing the space

• Throw out food waste and collect recycling.
• Put away equipment and tools not likely to be needed to make room for relevant projects and guests.
• Clear work surfaces and arrange chairs as needed.
• Ensure the space doesn't have too much trash before you open. If there is, consider throwing them out, but only if it is safe to do so.
• Adjust lighting and music as needed before the event.

Put out the signage

• Find and hang up the e-ink panel by the building front door downstairs.
  • Make sure the sign is displaying correctly (the timestamp matches). It may need power cycling or even charging.
  • The display side of the sign needs to be facing outwards. Also make sure it's hung at about eye level.
• Put up the direction magnets:
  • One for inside the elevator, pointing to the [2] button.
  • One for outside the elevator on the first floor, right next to the door and can be easily seen from outside.
• Prop open the space door. There should be a rubber door stop nearby.
